I leave you with a true storyâ¦
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And God said by faith, âLet there be light.â Abraham by faith journeyed three days to the top of a mountain to sacrifice his son. Daniel by faith walked into the lionâs den. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego by faith walked into a fiery furnace. Joshua by faith marched around the walls of Jericho. David by faith walked onto the battle field against Goliath.
Elijah by faith called unto God to rain down fire and brimstone upon his alter. The Virgin Mary by faith carried a child in her womb for nine months without lying with her husband. Jesus by faith prayed over the blind, sick, dumb, deaf and dead. Peter by faith stepped out of his boat.
I could go on and on for days⦠instead, I will ask you my friends, âWhat are you doing by faith?â You could reply, âjust living life is a walk of faith: Crossing the street and not getting run over. Going to school and not getting shot. Getting into your car and making it back home alive. Going for a jog and not getting murdered.â Yes, life itself is a challenge. God never said life would be easy. Life is full of tests and trials that grow our faith so it can be molded, shaped and purified to please our father.
My Faith Journey
In July of 2004, by faith I started this publication. I did not have a background in publications or media. I was a âDâ student in English. I still consider myself a âDâ student in English, since I totally rely on Microsoft Word to spell for me. Four years later, and by faith we are still growing.
I have come to understand that âGod does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.â We now have 25 solid believers on our staff, and they have forgotten more about the magazine business than I will ever know. This year we will reach over a million readers.
God said, âCome,â and by faith I came. He then surrounded me with the wisdom and staff that the magazine needed to reach the masses. Thatâs right; a âDâ English student that canât even spell is being used to take the gospel to the world. My friends, this is Godâs specialtyâdoing the impossible.
The Results
So in the beginning, God called for the light and light appeared. Abraham sacrificed a ram, and he and his son walked back down the mountain together. Daniel walked into the den of lions and walked out unharmed. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace and walked out with no injuries and no smell of smoke. Joshua marched around Jerichoâs walls, and they fell to the ground. David walked off the battle field only after he had removed the head of his enemy.
Mary birthed Jesus, the Savior of the world. Jesus walked the earth and made the blind see, the dumb speak, the deaf hear and the dead come back to life. And Peter stepped out of his boat and walked on water to meet Jesus, who declared, âIf thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believethâ (Mark 9:23).
This fall, my friends, I beseech youâno, I encourage youâto take my hand and by faith let us step out of the boat together and begin to walk on the water of life in the name of Jesus Christ. Donât worry about who you were, and donât think about who you are today, just know that by faith you will become who you are destined to be in Christ.
Letâs get to stepping, shall we?
