"Pirogue" daybed, 1919-20
(Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond)

An article was published in the March 1922 edition of Feuillets d'Art, describing Eileen's work method as follows:

"...regardless of material costs and physical exhaustion she rejects, begins again, not stopping until she has achieved the ideal line and the absolute ensemble... This artist dreams up some totally harmonious settings... She wants to create interiors suited to our existance, in proportion to our rooms and in accordance with our aspirations and feelings."

Her space planning was meticulous and economical. Her rooms austere in line, were enriched by the careful placement of furnishings and accessories usually of her own design.
