7. What do you want your fans to take away from this album?

I want my fans to take away two things from this album. First is that we serve a God who came to this world to set us free. For me it's food that has been the issue that has had me bound for several years. For somebody else it could be something else, you know on "True Beauty" I had a song "Voice of a Savior" and it talks about how some people turn to a bottle and some people turn to drugs and you know some people turn to the arms of another person but that we really all just long to hear the voice of a Savior. I believe that that is such a true issue and I believe that even as believers that we may have things that have kept us bound for years but I'm so thankful that I serve a God that says that I have come that you would have life and have it to the full and have an abundant life and I believe that we're not just promised an abundant life when we get to Heaven but that we're promised an abundant life here on earth and that means being set free from anything that has us bound. The other thing that I hope people will take away from this album is a feeling of comfort in knowing that there is a God who loves them and has a plan for them and would never leave them or forsake them. We live in a time that people are going through difficult things right now and I think that there are several songs on this album that will just bring hope and comfort to people that need it in this time more than in any other time and I think in my 30 years on earth. So I just believe that it will be a very comforting album for a lot of people.

8. Can you talk about your struggle with weight and food addiction? How are you doing in your journey towards a healthy lifestyle?

My struggle with weight has been the biggest struggle of my life and it began as a very young girl. There were certain things that happened to me as a child, just different situations of abuse that I talk about pretty freely and pretty openly but as a result of that abuse I started to turn to food to feel comfort and to fill that void that was left as a child and what I have learned is that the only thing that will satisfy me and the only thing that will truly give me comfort is the Comforter and He is the only one that can fill that void. And so one day at a time I have been set free or I am being set free from what I call is a food addiction. I believe that you can be addicted to alcohol and drugs and for me I believe that I have been addicted to food for several years. And so it's been a journey, it's been a very difficult journey, but it's a journey that I'm overcoming one day at a time. As of the taping of this, I have lost 60 pounds and it is more than eating, it is more than exercising, of course those things have to be a part of this, but it is truly what my first single says it is because my Deliverer has set me free from all that has held me captive and I just believe that this is, again, it's going to be a lifelong journey for me but as long as one day at a time I am getting closer and closer to being set free that's all that I can ask for and I believe that that's happening.

9. Freedom means a lot of different things to different people. What does it mean to you with these songs and with this album?

There's a lot of definitions for freedom but I believe that when you are free that means that you are not bound by anything and that you are able to enjoy the rights and privileges that being free afford you. You know we say in America that we live in a free country and that means that because we are called by the name of an American there are certain privileges and rights that we have as a result. I believe the same is true for me as a Christian. There are certain privileges and rights that I have as a Christian. I have the right to not be bound by Satan in any way whatsoever and I have the privilege of saying that I enjoy freedom from anything that this world will try to hold on me and so as a result of that I say that I have been set free because that's what the Bible says in Galatians 5:1 that it is for freedom that Christ has set me free and He has set me free and as a result I'm gonna live my life to glorify Him and to show the world how it really is to be a free person.

I just clicked a link that said, "Mandisa's Listening Party," and I get all of this in your face ministry. Wow! Thank you so much for being bold enough and fearless enough to do what God has called you to do. I'm not talking about singing. I'm talking about facing your fears about food addiction and showing the whole world what it really means to be a follower of Christ. Often times, we believers, like to pretend that everything is okay, and that "Oh, I'm blessed and highly favored of the Lord" and all that jazz-not that that's not true- but I mean us actually admitting that there is a problem, and facing that problem then doing something about it. Thank you. I also thank you for helping me. You know I said the other day to my mother that it would take so LONG to lose the weight that I need to lose. I've been going around this same mountain for years. I would get some results, and at a certain point I would just stop and go back to eating the way I used to eat. I would end up where I started only bigger. Now, I'm at the biggest I've EVER been 350lbs, and again the journey ahead seems like a long winding road. Thank you for being open and honest about your challenges with food. I just found out the other day that I have always had food on my mind even as a baby in the nursery at the hospital. My mother told me that the nurse came in her hospital room and let her hear the babies in the nursery. She said there was a baby crying louder than all the others and the nurse asked her did she know who that baby was. My mother said no. The nurse told her it was me, and that I was crying because I was hungry, and I had already been fed. Oh, how embarrassing and funny all at the same time! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how you have helped me realize that even though the journey may be long it doesn't mean that it's an impossible journey. A journey I wouldn't have to take alone. I have God on my side, and it also helps to know that someone else is going through the same journey. Hopefully, we'll meet up somewhere down the road, and discuss further the similarities and differences of our separate journeys together. Until then, Mandisa, may the blessings of God continue to surround you and shield from all that would hurt you. May His face shine upon you and keep you in perfect peace. May He carry you during the hard times of your running up and down those stairs, and may He give you the strength of HIS might to continue on to the end in Jesus name. Amen.

Glory to God Most High! Yes indeed he is the deliverer.
I to have finnally been set free from my past abuses and a wasted sense of life. It does not matter what your bound too, God can make anew.
I thank God for freedom to be the believer Iam today.
God Bless you for being real for all the world to see.

While hearing your song (My deliverer) on my XM Radio, it set me free from all my anxieties that I was experiencing that day. Thank GOD for the XMRadio having your name and song on it so I could search out the celebrity to hear that wonderful song again.Later I found out that you had been a contestant on IDOL program. Don't watch that so I found out that everyone else knew about you!!
