Ephesians 5:18
Eph5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;Eph5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.Eph5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;Eph5:4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.Eph5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.Eph5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.Eph5:7 Therefore do not be partakers with them;Eph5:8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of LightEph5:9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),Eph5:10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.Eph5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;Eph5:12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.Eph5:13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.Eph5:14 For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.”Eph5:15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,Eph5:16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.Eph5:17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, Eph5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;Eph5:20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;Eph5:21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.Eph5:22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.Eph5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.Eph5:24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.Eph5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,Eph5:26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,Eph5:27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.Eph5:28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;Eph5:29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,Eph5:30 because we are members of His body.Eph5:31 FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE , AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH .Eph5:32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.Eph5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.

“Lord I want to be filled with your holy spirit- to dwell on you in times of both trial and rewards- to find peace amidst the turmoil of the world- your word warns us about the evils of drinking- I know many that started innocently with a cup of wine, and are full blown addicts as they use alcohol or drugs to escape- Lord I stand today on behalf of all those addicted to substances other than your WORD- that they will be LIBERATED and come home to YOU, that you will fill their cup. Set them free Father God, save them from the evils of addiction.”

Ribbons The Clown & Company, Inc. posted BUT get drunk in the Spirit!. (Aug 29, 2009)

“Have you ever got drunk in the world? It seems fun but you let go of wisdom and do stupid stuff that catches up to you. You also get feeling pretty sick the next day. BUT that is a forgery of the real thing. In Heaven they party (when people get saved, at the marriage supper). God even made feast to party in the old Testament because they needed to party GODS WAY. The Bible is full of JOY and LAUGHTER. God is a fun God full of Joy and peace.

“When you praise and worship with all your heart, Your mind is on HIM and only Him, all the good things He has done for you, all the good things He IS, you will become full to overflow. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with the new wine. When you are drunk in the spirit you will be refreshed and it is how we should live. The world thinks it can get rid of their problems by getting high or drunk but that is a COPY of the REAL thing.”

Ribbons Believe it or Not posted You SHOULD be drunk IN THE SPIRIT. (Aug 17, 2009)

“We need to get into the presence of God and leak His presence out to others. We should be drunk in the Spirit, filled with joy. Remember that everything in the world is a COPY of the real thing. Drunk in the world is a copy of drunk in the Spirit.
When we are filled with joy we draw others to us. It is easy to witness when we are filled with joy. People want to serve a God that they can see brings joy to everyone
Psalm 51:12,13: Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13: Then …sinners shall be converted unto thee
This applies to witnessing. We GO…. And witness with joy and are lead with peace.
Is 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace:

Psalm 149:5: Let the saints be joyful in glory:
When we are in Gods presence or in the glory it brings joy.
    Psalm 30:11: Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
The Lord brings us out of captivity with Joy.

Psalm 105:43: And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

Ps 126:1-5 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2: Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
OUR JOY GETS THE ATTENTION OF THE HEATHEN!

Here the Bible talks about the oil of joy or gladness. The anointing on Jesus was the oil of JOY. The anointing destroyed the yokes and bondages.

Our Daily Journey posted Daily Devotional, August 12th. (Aug 11, 2009)

““Living Under the Influence” Driving a car or another vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can lead to tragedy and—of lesser consequence—a traffic ticket. Depending on the degree to which a person’s mental and motor skills are impaired, their offense will be labeled a DWI—driving while intoxicated; OWI—operating while impaired; DUI—driving under the influence (of alcohol and/or drugs). Sadly, each year thousands of people die or are injured or arrested because of the effects of mixing driving and drugs or alcohol. Paul urged the believers at Ephesus, as followers of Jesus Christ, to live under another influence.

In Ephesians 5:18, the apostle Paul said, “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life.” Unfortunately, just as it is today, getting inebriated was a common practice among the people of the ancient world. An intoxicated person was no longer in control of his words and actions. The apostle continues, “Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.” What did he mean? Paul was telling the Ephesians that being in Christ meant being controlled and influenced by the Holy Spirit.

The grammar is helpful here. The phrase “be filled” is a present imperative in the Greek language. This means that being controlled by the Holy Spirit was a command for the Ephesians—it was to be a continuous, everyday experience. Paul wanted the church of Ephesus to experience the Spirit’s guidance, control, and power to live for Jesus every day. The result of being filled with the Spirit was life and inner joy through worshiping and thanking God—not the destruction and death that comes from drunkenness.

Let’s pursue a LUI life—“living under the influence” of the Holy Spirit. As we remain under His control, our words and actions will influence others for Jesus. —Marvin Williams, Our Daily Journey
