Be Ready for Rain

I heard a story of two farmers who were praying for rain. Only one of the farmers though actually began tilling his fields in preparation for the rain, trusting that the Lord would deliver. When the rains finally came, which do you think was more greatly blessed with a rich harvest from God?
The answer is quite obvious - the one who prepared his field believing God would answer. We are reminded to be prepared for God's blessings, for they are coming. It is not your doing that will bring about His blessing, but His planning. It is your job to be ready when He delivers though. If you are struggling with unemployment, finances, or a relationship the Lord tells you to be prepared. If you are struggling with addictions, lust or anger the Lord tells you to be prepared.
So, how do we become prepared? Be in His word often, learning and leaning on the teachings that come from the very author of your life. Realize that His timing may not and often does not align to your timing and you are going to have to be patient. Have confidence, faith and trust in God during your hard ship. These times of struggle and turmoil are intended to draw you closer to Him. To bring you to a point where you rely solely on His grace and mercy and give up your belief that you can solve lifes problems alone. The day will come, and for you I hope it is soon, that the heavens will open and God's blessings will pour out upon you and your circumstance. Be sure that you are prepared to recieve His blessing and not just the blessing you were asking for. Realize that those two things may be very different.

Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain.
